UNC, USC, College of Charleston highlight Citadel baseball schedule
Some new names highlight The Citadel’s 2013 baseball schedule announced Thursday, along with games against traditional rivals South Carolina, College of Charleston and Charleston Southern.
The Bulldogs will play two games against USC, at home on March 19 at Riley Park and in Columbia on April 9. A three-game series against College of Charleston is set for May 10-12 at Riley Park, and the Bulldogs will play a three-game set against Charleston Southern on March 22-24. The first and third games will be at Riley Park, the middle game at CSU.
The slate also contains some less traditional foes. The Bulldogs begin the season Feb. 15-17, with George Mason, Kansas State and High Point coming in for The Citadel Memorial Challenge. Pitt, VCU and UNC Asheville will be at Riley Park March 1-3 for the Bulldog Challenge. And The Citadel will play at ACC member North Carolina on May 1.
The schedule includes seven NCAA tournament teams from last year and 30 Southern Conference games. The SoCon Tournament is set for May 22-26 in Greenville.
