Man caught burglarizing Charleston apartment
A man was caught burglarizing an apartment on St. Philip Street early Thursday Morning, Charleston police said.
The apartment’s residents returned home about 1 a.m. and noticed that the their front door was slightly open, police spokesman Charles Francis said.
The residents entered the apartment and found a man hiding behind a bathroom door, Francis said.
A fight broke out between the residents and the man, and Francis said the residents detained the intruder until police arrived.
Police identified the man as Nathaniel Cobb, 56, of Spruill Avenue in North Charleston and charged him with first-degree burglary, Francis said.
Cobb is being held at the Charleston County jail.
