Suspect in Lincolnville meth lab bust identified, road reopened
Charleston County sheriff’s deputies have reopened a stretch of road they had closed off in Lincolnville due to the discovery of a small meth lab. They’ve also arrested the man they say is responsible.
Deputies blocked the stretch of East Owens Drive near Watson Road at 10:30 a.m. and it was closed to traffic for several hours, sheriff’s Capt. Eric Watson said. No residents were asked to evacuate, but they were told to remain inside their homes, he said.
Investigators have charged Reid Anthony Brown, 52, of East Owens Drive, with manufacturing of methamphetamine and more charges will be filed, according to Watson.
Personnel from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Charleston Fire Department, Charleston County Emergency Medical Services and the City of Charleston Hazard Material Team were on the scene and a small team remained around 3:30 p.m.
After receiving a tip, the county’s metro narcotics unit conducted an investigation involving the residents of 500 East Owens Drive, Watson said. Investigators discovered a small, active meth lab, he said.
