Wrong way driver leaves motorist trapped in car with broken bones
The rear end of a Honda dangled over a retaining wall with the driver trapped inside early Friday morning after the car was struck by a truck traveling the wrong way on Highway 52 Connector, police said.
The driver, who fled the scene on foot, was found at a hotel.
Benjamin L. Dodson, 30, was charged Friday with felony DUI after his pickup truck collided with a car when he was driving westbound in the eastbound lane of Highway 52 Connector in North Charleston, police said.
The driver of the Honda, Arkelle D. Grant, was pinned in the vehicle and had to be freed. He was treated at a hospital for a fractured pelvis and leg and a dislocated hip, police said.
