Dillon man held in baseball bat death
DILLON, S.C. -- A Dillon man has been arrested and charged with murder in the baseball bat beating death of another man.
Authorities say Craig Alexander Bellmon was arrested Tuesday at his home, where police say the attack occurred.
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley says 39-year-old James “Greg” McLellan of Dillon was pronounced dead at a local hospital early Tuesday.
Police say the two men scuffled after McLellan came to Bellmon’s residence. The police report says Bellmon told officers he grabbed a baseball bat and struck McLellan several times. Bellmon then called police.
Grimsley says an autopsy will be conducted.
It was not clear if Bellmon has an attorney.
