COLUMBIA — The S.C. State Election Commission today unanimously dismissed an election protest against Ridgeland Democratic Sen. Clementa Pinckney.
Leilani Bessinger, Pinckey’s Republican opponent in the Nov. 6 District 45 election, had filed the protest contending Pinckney was not a legal resident of the district when he filed for office in March.
The question of Pinckney’s residency arose after the contest in a story published by the Jasper County Sun.
