H&R Block has several locations throughout Charleston, but they normally don't get much use during the off-tax-filing season.
That has changed.
The company recently added a Money Express service at 17 H&R Block sites in the region.
Through a self-serve kiosk about the size of an ATM, they allow H&R Block Emerald Prepaid MasterCard clients to pay bills, print money orders, load checks and add cellphone minutes.
The service, which caters to those who don't use traditional banking methods, offers card application and activation with no monthly fees at no charge along with free cash withdrawals and free cash reloads.
Tease Dry Bar at 430 King St., Charleston's first blow dry bar, will hold its grand opening 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Guests will have a chance to win a $100 tease tab.
Lighting the way
King Street between Calhoun and Broad streets will be closed to vehicles 6-9 p.m. Saturday as stores stay open after the Charleston Christmas tree lighting around 5:50 p.m. This is the first time the street has closed after the lighting and shops have stayed open.
Go to www.christmason kingstreet.com for free two-hour parking vouchers and other information.
First for Belk
Belk's first “Santafest” is set for noon-3 p.m. Saturday.
Customers can bring the children to a participating Belk store, where they can meet Santa, create a wish list and enter a drawing to win a $50 kids wardrobe with three winners per store.
The festive event will feature holiday crafts and other activities designed especially for kids. Refreshments will be served, including beverages by Keurig, MoonPies and candy canes. Contact your local Belk store for more information.
