College of Charleston volleyball team will learn NCAA tournament opponent today
The College of Charleston volleyball team will learn its opponent for the NCAA tournament today.
The Cougars advanced to the NCAA tournament by knocking off Furman in a five-set thriller in the Southern Conference finals.
The Cougars’ league championship is the seventh tournament title for the program and the 12th straight regular season or tournament championship dating back to 2001. Seven tournament championships are more than any other SoCon program.
Charleston (26-7) has not been to the NCAA tournament since 2009. The Cougars are currently ranked 55th in the RPI and could end up with a No. 3 seed in their pod of four (similar to NCAA baseball first round, except single elimination). The Cougars have the only NCAA tournament victory in Southern Conference history back in 2005.
The NCAA selection show will be shown on ESPNU.
