South Carolina journalist, son killed in Darlington house fire
DARLINGTON — Authorities say two Darlington men have died after a large home was destroyed by fire.
The Florence Morning News reports that 67-year-old veteran journalist Dwight Dana was killed in the Sunday morning fire. Also killed was his son, Radisson, who lived in a house behind the main house.
Firefighters recovered one body near the front of the house and a second body toward the back of the house.
Paula Dana, Dwight Dana’s ex-wife, said Radisson made the initial 911 call and told communications officers he was going into the main home in search of his father. Paula Dana confirmed both men were found dead.
The Darlington Fire Department spent more than two hours battling flames of the 110-year-old, two-story home, and remained on the scene to find the origin.
