Two wounded in shootout in North Charleston
Two men were wounded in a shootout in North Charleston today.
Officers were sent to Gordon Street shortly before 4 p.m. to check out a report of gunshots, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. While in route, officers were told that the victim was at 2631 Leeds Ave.
When officers arrived, a man told them he was parked in a vehicle in the 2700 block of Gordon Street when a man with a gun approached. The victim said he grabbed the gun and was shot in the left hand.
The gunman ran off, firing back at the car as fled. The man who was shot in the hand grabbed a gun and fired back at the fleeing gunman.
A short time later, police learned that another man had been brought to Medical University Hospital and underwent surgery for a gunshot wound. Police believe he was involved in the altercation on Gordon Street, Pryor said.
Police are investigating and did not immediately release the names of the two men who were shot.
