Jackals blank Stingrays, 1-0

Elmira, N.Y. — Elmira forward Andrew Rowe scored the only goal of the game as the Jackals shut down South Carolina, 1-0, on Friday night at First Arena.

The Stingrays, who have lost three straight, fell to 7-12-0-2 while the Jackals improved to 9-6-1-0.

Rowe scored on the power play at 6:39 of the second period, chipping a shot past the glove of Stingrays goaltender Ryan Zapolski (20 saves on 21 shots) from between the faceoff circles.

Defensemen Kyle Bushee and Danny New earned the assists.

Goaltender Marc Cheverie made 31 saves for his second shutout of the season. The Stingrays ended the night 0 for 7 on the power play while the Jackals went 1 for 4.

The Stingrays wrap up their season series against the Jackals today at 7:05 p.m. at First Arena and return to the North Charleston Coliseum next Friday against the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m.
