Body located confirmed as missing Mount Pleasant man
A man whose body was found in a Mount Pleasant woods on Wednesday has been identified as a 72-year-old resident who had been missing since Saturday, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said today.
The Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the woods off Hamlin and Rifle Range roads about 3 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a body in the woods, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Phillip Washington of 2663 Rifle Range Road, the release said.
He had been reported missing by relatives on Saturday. A deputy and relatives searched the immediate area without success, the release said.
Foul play is not currently suspected, and the Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office will continue the investigation.
