SPARTANBURG — South Carolina police say they’ve arrested the man wanted for attacking his housemate with a sledgehammer and a machete in Spartanburg.

The Spartanburg Public Safety Department says 21-year-old Ricky Lee White was arrested by police at the Atlanta Greyhound bus station on Tuesday. Spartanburg police were told that White bought a ticket to Atlanta, and they notified police in Georgia.

A warrant accuses White of attempted murder after authorities say he struck his roommate with a sledgehammer and cut him with a machete on Monday. Arriving officers found a man with several cuts and bruises to his face and torso.

The victim told officers he got away by running out the front door when White was not looking.
