Beaches battered by high tides, high winds
Erosion from high winds and high tides last weekend punished dunes on Folly Beach, Sullivanís Island and Isle of Palms.
Tim Goodwin, Folly Beach mayor, said the damage was worse than from passing Hurricane Sandy last month.
The worst part, though, going into the winter season when noríeaster storms tend to wreak havoc, might be that the tides werenít that high, only a foot or so above normal. But the winds blew near 30 mph.
