A fire destroyed an abandoned home on James Island early Monday morning.
The James Island Fire Department received a call about the blaze shortly after midnight.
The abandoned house, at 2165 Roberts Road, appeared to be home to squatters, Battalion Chief Jeff Armstrong said.
After extinguishing the blaze firefighters found a camp stove and some furniture inside the house, and Armstrong said neighbors reported seeing vehicles come and go on occasion.
The structure was damaged in a previous fire, and is now a total loss, Armstrong said.
No one was injured in the blaze, and Armstrong said officials are still investigating its cause.
