16th Annual Lowcountry Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway will be held Tuesday

The 16th annual Lowcountry Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway will provide free meals at two locations Tuesday for homeless veterans, low-income families and senior citizens.

Distribution will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at Nichols Chapel AME Church at the corner of President and Kennedy streets in downtown Charleston. The event will continue at 4 p.m. at the Piggly Wiggly shopping center on S.C. Highway 165 in Hollywood, which will kick off the inaugural Sea Island Thanksgiving Activity.

Folks will distribute turkeys and gift certificates from various grocery stores including Bi-Lo, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Piggly Wiggly, Publix and Walmart. The event is hosted by State Sen. Robert Ford, Rep. Wendell Gilliard and Rep. Chip Limehouse. Contact Ford at 813-1777 or Gilliard at 209-3123 with questions.
