Coroner identifies College of Charleston student hit by car
The coroner’s office has identified the College of Charleston student killed after she was hit by a car at the Crosstown.
Hannah-Rose Elledge, 21, of England, died of blunt force trauma, according to Charleston County Deputy Coroner Scott Ramsey.
According to College of Charleston spokesperson Melissa Whetzel, Elledge was listed as a non-degree seeking international student.
Elledge and Eliza Bower, 19, were walking across the Crosstown against the green light early Sunday morning, according to Charleston police.
The two women were hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee about 2:30 a.m. on the Crosstown at Coming Street, police spokesman Charles Francis said.
Bower was taken to a hospital with what appeared to be a broken ankle.
The Jeep driver had the right of way, did not contribute to the accident and remained at the scene until police arrived, Francis said.
