Cross man charged with trafficking pot
A Cross man was arrested Friday after accepting 25 pounds of marijuana from an undercover narcotics officer posing as a delivery man, the officials announced today.
Don Antonio Jackson, 25, of Richardson Street in Cross was arrested at his house after the delivery and charged with trafficking marijuana, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest was in Orangeburg County, just across the Berkeley County border. Orangeburg and Berkeley County deputies worked together in the undercover operation.
Jackson was carrying a loaded Smith and Wesson 9 mm handgun when he was arrested, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Jackson was released from jail on $50,000 bail.
Christopher Renard Hawkins, 45, of Inglewood, Calif., was also arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana. He was still in custody on $50,000 bail.
