Man flees robbery scene on mo-ped
Charleston County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man suspected of robbing a West Ashley gas station this morning and riding away from the scene on a mo-ped.
Deputies were dispatched to the BP station at 1924 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at 8:15 a.m., sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said in a news release.
When they arrived, deputies were told a man entered the business and approached the counter as if to make a purchase. As the clerk opened the register, the robber walked behind the counter and grabbed money from the register, the release said.
The robber fled the area on a mo-ped with the letters CBS on it.
The suspect is described as a black man, tall and skinny, about 25-30 years old, with a large Afro haircut. He was wearing a red sweater and black pants.
No weapon was displayed during the incident, the release said.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at 202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
