Mount Pleasant Track Club dominates at state Junior Olympic cross country

providedAlly Dominiak of the Mount Pleasant Track Club finished nearly 10 seconds in front of her closest competitor in the Sub Bantam Girls event in the U.S. Track and Field state cross country meet held Saturday at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park.

The Mount Pleasant Track Club put on a dominant performance in the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic cross country meet Saturday at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park.

The track club had five age-group state champions: Ally Dominiak, Hadley Shaw, Andrew DeArellano, AJ Gawryluk and Miles Clarke.

A field of 352 athletes ages 5-18 from throughout the state participated in the meet. The top 30 individuals and top five teams advanced to the regionals, which will be held Saturday in Fayetteville, Ga.

From there, the top 20 individuals and the top 3 teams will advance to the nationals Dec. 8 in Albuquerque, N.M.

The winners were:

Sub-Bantam Girls: Mount Pleasant Track Club 23, Midlands Surge 36 (Ally Dominiak, Elizabeth Meis, Tess Friedman, Alexis Maize, Kenna Quattro, Avery Jenkins, Henley Duffy, Katherine Maize, Caitlyn Bennett).

Sub-Bantam Boys: Mount Pleasant Track Club A 25, Florence 31, Mount Pleasant Track Club B 89 (A Team: Hadley Shaw, Michael Donoho, Wiley Tshantz, Reilly Poole, Bryan Enck, Robbie Street, Ryan Spychalski, Luke Walmet; B Team: Brooks Bennett, Nicholas Welborn, London Kearney, Samuel Henshaw, Alan Muthard, Noah Morgan, Jack Darby).

Bantam Girls: Mount Pleasant Track Club A 23, Summerville 74, The Storm 83, Florence 84, Mount Pleasant Track Club B 107 (A Team: Quinna Muthard, Chloe Berda, Maya Cline, Kate Spychalski, Madeline Davis, Berklie Duffy, Ellie Pence, Caroline Welborn; B Team: Mallory Jenkins, Mary Claire Parker, Kate Stribling, Victoria Dooley, Ramie Thompson, Eleanor Doran, Angeline Gaglione).

Bantam Boys: Mount Pleasant Track Club A 28, Florence 28 (broken by sixth runner, Mount Pleasant Track Club won), Mount Pleasant Track Club B, 83.
