Charleston police looking for Citadel Mall car thief

Charleston police are looking for man who stole a car and cell phone at gunpoint in the Citadel Mall parking lot Monday.

A man told police he was waiting outside Belk’s about 9:30 p.m. to pick up his wife from work when a man with a gun approached his car. The gunman told the man to get out of the car and lie on the ground. Then the gunman drove off with the car and cell phone inside.

The car is a blue 2007 Nissan Altima with S.C. license plate 582 9FT.

The suspect is described as a male of possible mixed race, in his 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 165 pounds, wearing a Tar Heel or bright blue jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call Charleston Police at 577-7434 or leave an anonymous tip at Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
