4 killed in Jamestown wreck
A church outing ended in tragedy Wednesday night when four people died in a five-car wreck in rural Berkeley County.
A sport utility vehicle carrying church members from Georgetown to Russellville wrecked and caught fire in Jamestown, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said.
Three church members perished in the burning SUV, and a fourth person in another vehicle also died, he said. He didn’t immediately have the name of the church group or identities of those who died.
The pileup happened at 7:40 p.m. in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 17A near Freefall Lane in Jamestown, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
