A North Charleston firefighter was bit by a dog while working a structure fire Monday night.

The incident happened shortly before midnight in the 3300 block of Florida Avenue, spokeswoman Bianca Sancic said.

Authorities arrived and saw smoke coming from the single story home, Sancic said.

The flames were put out quickly, and Sancic said only one room was damaged.

No one was injured in the fire, but a firefighter was treated for a dog bite at the scene, according to Sancic.

The fire’s cause is still under investigation, Sancic said.
