Authorities have reopened a downtown elementary school after having locked the school down as police investigated a nearby shooting.

About noon today, a man was found shot in an apartment on Lee Street, Charleston police said.

Authorities were searching for a black man wearing a yellow construction vest, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

A male victim was transported to Medical University Hospital with gunshot wounds.

Francis could not confirm how many times the victim was shot.

Sanders-Clyde Elementary School on Morrison Drive was locked down for a while as a precautionary measure, Charleston County School District spokesman Jason Sakran said. Authorities reopened the school later in the day.
