Northwoods Mall is getting a barbecue restaurant.
Sticky Fingers plans to open its first express location in the North Charleston shopping center Friday.
“We've been conceptualizing the express restaurant for several years and are excited to see it finally come to fruition,” operating partner Robert Patterson said.
Sticky Fingers Smokehouse Express will be beside the Great American Cookie Company at the mall entrance of the food court.
The restaurant will serve most of its traditional menu and add a new family-style option.
Sticky Fingers first opened in 1992 in Mount Pleasant, where its five barbecue sauces were invented.
Twenty years later, the smoked meats are still slow cooked on-site in barbecue pits, it has 16 locations across five southeastern states, and its sauces are sold in 5,000 grocery stores and specialty shops across the nation.
To celebrate the past 20 years, the restaurant chain is offering specials on the 20th of each month through March 2013.

Catering to its needs
Duvall Catering and Event Design has produced more than 15,000 events in its 34-year history, but it recently staged a big event of its own by moving its entire operation to a former lumber supply space at 2816 Azalea Drive in North Charleston.
The company, which employs 60 full-time staff members, now sits on two acres and occupies a 30,000-square-foot facility, double the size of its former location at 1030 Jenkins Road.
Now located off of Interstate 26 and King Street Extension, the larger facility is equipped with four kitchens, including one with a rare USDA/FDA-certification.
It also has a 4,300-square-foot main kitchen, which the company will lease to small business owners.
A 1,700-square-foot test kitchen is for private events.
“This is a move that we have been planning for many years,” said Steve Wenger, CEO of Duvall Events. “We are excited by the new opportunities this space affords and the additional services we can now offer our clients and partners.”
In addition to the facility's kitchen and catering space, the new location offers 6,000 square-feet for its decor department, allowing for custom drapery and upholstering on site.
The company also now offers a 4,000-square-foot theater, which will soon be used for dinner theater events and general event space.
