Deputies say robbery motive in North Charleston shooting Wednesday night
Charleston County deputies say robbery was the motive behind a shooting in North Charleston that left one man hospitalized Wednesday night.
Deontra Venkio Bowens, 27, was shot at his home on Elegans Drive in North Charleston’s Hub Village about 8:30 p.m., deputies said.
Bowens received gunshot wounds to his chin and leg and had cuts on his head, Sheriff’s Office Maj. Jim Brady said.
A family member saw Bowens limping down Accabee Road and transported him to Medical University Hospital for treatment, according to an incident report.
Deputies found shell casings for what appeared to be a .45-caliber gun, a baseball cap, and a jacket at the scene, the report said.
Authorities are searching for a red pickup truck the suspect was driving, the report said.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
