Theres a new neighbor knocking around Hanahan.

LGs on the Creek has assumed the space formerly occupied by Carolina Crust Gourmet Pizza and Pub in the Tanner Plantation shopping center. Its a new concept under new ownership, the restaurant is quick to acknowledge. And in these newly appointed quarters, LGs enjoys ample room.

A painted brick application and warm yellow tones offer cozy surroundings. The L-shaped bar accommodates several patrons, as do a number of high-top tables and booths scattered throughout the restaurant.

Additionally, the outdoor area provides another gathering spot and a base for a game or two of cornhole.

Flatbreads, specialty pies, sandwiches and pastas make up much of LGs menu. As pizzas go, a 10-inch costs $10, with a 16-inch pizza $15. The Fat Guy pie can make quick believers, combining chicken, red onions, bacon, cilantro and mozzarella cheese with a tangy barbecue sauce on a soft but nicely flavored crust.

And though the Whitehead may sound unappetizing, its a good choice featuring garlic oil, mozzarella, feta and provolone cheeses.

The bruschetta ($8) also is a solid pick, the crispy crostinis offering nice balance for the medley of tomatoes, red onions, basil and balsamic.

Among sandwiches, LGs makes its own meatballs for its meatball sandwich ($7), and patties together a half-pound of American ground chuck into its burger ($8). Pastas and Italian entrees ($9-$10) include the standards: fettucine alfredo, spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli, eggplant parmesan and chicken parmesan.

But decidedly not standard? LGs enthusiastic service, which should go a long way in enhancing and popularizing the restaurant.
