Dorchester County voters who want to cast an absentee vote today in person must travel to the county’s offices in St. George by 5 p.m.
The county has opened absentee precincts in both St. George and Summerville during the past two weeks, but it closed down the Summerville option Friday as part of its preparations for Election Day, county election director Joshua Dickard said.
Absentee voting in Dorchester and other counties has been running high, at or above 2008 levels, when a record number of absentee votes were cast in the state.
All absentee ballots, whether sent by mail, fax or email, must be received by respective county election offices by 7 p.m. tomorrow.
Meanwhile, in person absentee voting in all counties is set to end at 5 p.m. today. Beginning at 7 a.m. tomorrow, regular polling places will open.
