Bodies of 2 women found in Upstate home, suspect in hospital
WESTMINSTER — Authorities say the bodies of a woman and her aunt were found in an Oconee County home, and a suspect has been hospitalized.
Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the bodies found Friday as 82-year-old Clarine Smith and her niece, 63-year-old Sandra Myers of Seneca. Myers was visiting the home near Westminster.
Addis said the women’s wounds appear to be the result of blunt force trauma, cutting and stabbing. Autopsies are scheduled Sunday.
Investigators say an 86-year-old man who lived with Smith was found with cuts and stab wounds that appear to be self-inflicted. Capt. Travis Wilson said the elderly man is a suspect. He was at Greenville Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Tilson said the niece’s son found their bodies and called 911 about 5 p.m. Friday.
