Bishops team headed back to state volleyball championship again
PAWLEYS ISLAND — The Bishop England volleyball team’s quest foranother state title and a national record continue.
The Bishops, who are seeking their 13th straight state title and a national record 23rd state crown, defeated Waccamaw Thursday night, 25-18, 25-13, 25-11, in the Class AA Lower State semifinal.
The talented Bishops shrugged off a gym full of fired-up Waccamaw fans and a feisty Warriors squad to head back to the title match. The Bishops play the winner of the Chesnee-Andrew Jackson at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at White Knoll High School.
“Every year we see (Waccamaw) and we know it’s going to be a tough match,” said Bishop England coach Cindy Baggott.
“Coming up here, we had the challenge of the fans as well.”
