United Way chapters along the Eastern seaboard have created a fund for donations to help the recovery from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy
Contributions will be sent to help needs in communities that are declared disaster areas in Washington, D.C., and nine states from West Virginia to New Hampshire, according to a United Way news release.
People needing help or wanting to volunteer can dial 211 to reach the United Way hotline in their community.
Contributions can be made by texting RECOVERY to 52000 or going online to https://donate.unitedwaynyc.org and clicking “Donate now.”
