Givhans Ferry State Park opens trail for riding horses
Givhans Ferry State Park is opening its five-mile Old Loop Trail for equestrian activity beginning today and continuing through Feb. 28. The park is at 746 Givhans Ferry Road, Ridgeville.
All riders must present a valid Equestrian Permit or purchase a permit upon arrival at the park. Permits are $25, and horses must have a valid Coggins report. The permit must be used only by the permit holder or his immediate family, and the permit is valid only for the current riding season.
Riding is limited to the trail and firebreaks that are designated with trail markers. No horses are allowed into designated areas because of the sensitivity of the habitat. A designated parking area is adjacent to the volleyball net.
