Storage facility closed, investigated
A Goose Creek storage facility was closed for several hours Monday night while authorities investigated a suspicious item.
The item was reported around 6 p.m. in a unit at Extra Space storage on St. James Avenue, according to an employee who lives nearby.
She said authorities told her it was safe to return home about 10 p.m.
Local television stations reported that the State Law Enforcement Division, the Department of Health and Environmental Control and the Secret Service were involved. Spokespersons for those agencies could not be reached late Monday.
