College of Charleston has been picked to finish second and The Citadel sixth in the South Division of the Southern Conference in the league’s preseason basketball polls announced today.

Both the league’s coaches and media agreed that Davidson is the favorite in the South Division, followed in both polls by College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, Wofford, Furman and The Citadel.

Andrew Lawrence and Trent Wiedeman of College of Charleston were selected to the coaches’ preseason all-SoCon squad, along with The Citadel’s Mike Groselle. Also on the all-SoCon squad are preseason player of the year De’mon Brooks, Nik Cochran and Jake Cohen of Davidson; Jack Isenbarger of Elon; Eric Ferguson of Georgia Southern; Trevis Simpson of UNC Greensboro; and Trey Sumler of Western Carolina.
