A man found dead on Gaynor Avenue in North Charleston Wednesday night was a 51-year-old resident who died from a gunshot wound, according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.
Wallace Hazelton died at the scene, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kimberly Rhoton said today.
Officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of Gaynor Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. where an unresponsive man was said to be lying on the side of the road, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.
Police provided no details about how the body was found or whether the death was suspicious.
Rhoton confirmed that Hazelton died from gunfire, but she would not say how many times he was shot or where on his body his wounds were located.
