1st Congressional District forum to go on without Scott
U.S. Rep. Tim Scott, R-S.C., won’t participate in tonight’s 1st Congressional District forum, but the event will go on with his Democratic and Libertarian rivals.
Scott had other campaign events lined up that evening in Bluffton and will be unable to attend the forum scheduled by the League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area, his chief of staff, Joe McKeown, said Monday.
“There were no alternate dates offered,” McKeown added.
The voter forum, set for 7 p.m. at North Charleston City Hall, will continue with Democratic challenger Bobbie Rose and Libertarian candidate Keith Blandford.
The voter forum also is set to air on Comcast Channel 60.
The congressional portion is expected to begin around 7:30 p.m.
The first part of the forum will be allotted to Charleston County auditor candidate Peter Tecklenburg, a Democrat.
His auditor rival, Republican Paul Gawrych, also said he will be unable to attend.
