Electric car conference set for Midlands
South Carolina’s capital city is the site of this week’s Southeast Regional Electric Vehicle Readiness Conference
The event takes place from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
The purpose of the event is to provide information and identify resources to increase the deployment of electric vehicles in South Carolina and the Southeast.
It is being organized by the Southeast Regional Electric Vehicle Readiness Planning Program, a multistate collaborative effort that includes Palmetto State Clean Fuels Coalition and the South Carolina Institute for Energy Studies.
An estimated 150 representatives from public and private fleets, the alternative fuel industry and government agencies are expected to attend. Scheduled speakers include Jim Poch of the Charleston-based group Plug In Carolina. The cost is $35.
