Woman evacuated from cruise ship near Georgetown

A woman was airlifted from a Carnival Cruise ship near Georgetown to a Charleston hospital today, according to a news release from the Coast Guard.

Margarie Robertson, 65, was medically evacuated by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter operating out of Charleston,

The cruise ship, the Pride, was about 110 miles east of Georgetown when staff aboard the ship contacted Coast Guard Sector Charleston and requested a medical evacuation for a female passenger who was experiencing severe symptoms related to a previous medical condition, according to the release.

She was evacuated at 10 a.m., along with her husband and a nurse from the cruise ship, and taken to Medical University Hospital.

Robertson’s condition is unknown.
