A man is recovering from a shot to his ankle after he claimed someone shot him while he was walking on the street.

Daniel Lamar Swinton Jr. told police he was walking on Rivers Avenue near Hanahan around 11 p.m. last night when a dark-colored vehicle passed him.

He claimed someone in the vehicle shouted something and when he crossed the street, the car turned around and someone got out of it and fired shots at him, according to Spencer Pryor, spokesman for the North Charleston Police Department.

Swinton was hit in the ankle and taken to Roper Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Swinton could not provide information on who shot him, according to police.
