School bus rear ended on Rivers Avenue, children on board
A car rear ended a school bus on Rivers Avenue Friday morning.
The school bus was headed east on Rivers when its driver, 51-year-old Lolita Ellis, lost control and pulled over with the flashers on, South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres said.
Minutes later,a 2006 Ford Taurus driven by 53-year-old Michael Garnett of North Charleston rear ended the bus, Beres said.
Six children were on the school bus at the time of the wreck, but Beres said none of them were injured.
Both Ellis and Garnett were wearing seat belts, Beres said. They were both transported to Roper Hospital for treatment.
Beres did not know the status of their injuries.
Garnett was charged with driving too fast for conditions, Beres said.
