James Island couple to talk adoption case on Dr. Phil Thursday
A James Island couple waiting to see whether the U.S. Supreme Court will hear their harrowing adoption case will share their story with a national audience on the Dr. Phil show Thursday.
Matt and Melanie Capobianco handed over their Native American adoptive daughter Veronica, 3, to her biological father in Oklahoma under the federal Indian Child Welfare Act.
The show will elaborate on the 1978 federal law, and will feature the Capobianco’s and other families that have been affected by it.
Chrissi Nimmo, the assistant attorney general for the Cherokee Nation, is also scheduled to make an appearance.
The show will air locally Thursday at 4 p.m. on WCBD Channel 2.
