Earl Brown is back in coaching and he didn’t even miss a season.
Brown, the long-time coach at Burke who announced his retirement after leading the Bulldogs to the Class A boys state championship game last year, is the new coach at Baptist Hill.
“I could have stayed at Burke a couple of more years, but it wouldn’n’t have been fair to Dion Richardson,” Brown said. “He was the coach-in-waiting. It wouldn’t have been fair to him if I cut into his time.”
Brown will begin his 43rd season with more than 700 career wins.
He’s coached at the old Alston High School in Summerville and C.A. Brown in Charleston. He’s also coached at James Island and was at Burke since 1985.
