Summerville woman robbed, hit outside apartment
Summerville police are searching for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint and hit her in the face.
The 53-year-old woman told police a man grabbed her purse and pushed her against a wall outside of her apartment building on Bacons Bridge Road about 11:40 p.m. Saturday.
She described the man as black, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, thin, wearing a long sleeve dark blue shirt, black pants, black shoes, a black bandanna covering his face, and possibly black shoulder-length dreads.
She told police the man hit her on the left side of her head with her purse, and ran toward the woods.
Police could not see any injuries on her face, an incident report said.
The black purse had a silver buckle and contained a Wells Fargo debit card, about $2 in change, checks and various papers, the report said.
The man may have had an accomplice waiting for him, the report said.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
