Motorcycle rider dies after wreck on Savannah Highway

The motorcycle rider who was injured in a wreck on Savannah Highway Saturday has died.

Donald Ray, 50, of Charleston died at 11:40 p.m. Saturday at Medical University Hospital, according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

The motorcycle collided with a sport-utility vehicle about 6:45 p.m. Saturday on Savannah Highway near Hughes Road. Traffic was blocked in both directions near the scene for about two hours.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and has not said who was at fault.
