Victims in Colleton County shooting identified
Authorities on Sunday released the identities of two adults who were shot and a 7-year-old child who was injured by broken glass Saturday night when someone opened fire on two Colleton County homes.
The shootings happened at 9:11 p.m. at 210 and 212 Enterprise Street, Sheriff George Malone said in a statement. The homes are located just outside of Walterboro city limits.
Leon Bennett, 48, was flown to Medical University Hospital with multiple gunshots to his leg while Latoya Washington, 36, and her daughter were taken to Colleton Medical Center, Malone said.
Malone said the victims had been watching television when the gunshots pierced their home and the home next door. No one inside the other home was injured.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (843) 549-2211 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
