North Charleston, Charleston police seek suspect in CVS robbery, attempted robbery

North Charleston police said they believe a man who attempted to rob a CVS on Ashley Phosphate Road Saturday morning may have successfully robbed a West Ashley CVS an hour before.

CVS clerks told police a man came in the store on Ashley Phosphate Road about 4 a.m., showed a pistol and forced them into the pharmacy.

The man was described as white, wearing dark boots, dark pants, a long sleeved grey shirt, dark ball cap with read trim, sunglasses, and fabric under his hat and over his head, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

A pharmacist heard commotion within the store and called 911, which prompted the man to flee through an emergency exit, Pryor said.

The man did not take anything from the store.

A CVS in West Ashley was robbed about 3 a.m., and Pryor said police believe the same man could be responsible.

A store clerk told police a man entered CVS at 2152 Savannah Highway, also showed a pistol and demanded money.

That man was described as white, 28-35 years old, 210 to 230 pounds and with a muscular build, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said. The man wore a long sleeved grey pullover, blue jeans, dark work boots, and a black baseball hat with a red rim on the bill.

The man fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, Francis said.
