Goose Creek shines on national television
GOOSE CREEK — ESPNU’s broadcast of the Cane Bay-Goose Creek football game turned out to be a 48-minute Gators highlight film.
Goose Creek’s talented junior running back Caleb Kinlaw ripped off of 73-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage Friday night and the Gators never slowed down en route to a 55-0 victory over the Cobras in front of about 5,000 fans at Fulmer Field.
The Gators entered the game No. 2 in Class AAAA the state and No. 15 in the country and a national television audience got to see what makes the Gators so good. Their speed, strength and athleticism on both sides of the ball were too much for the Cobras. The Gators gained 354 yards in the first half and held the Cobras to 57 to take a 41-0 lead into the locker room.
The Gators made big plays all night to improve to 8-0, including 2-0 in Region 7-AAAA. Cane Bay lost its second straight game and fell to 5-3, 0-2.
