Summerville man accused of stealing diamond ring from West Ashley store
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding Gary Duane McKee, 29, on a grand larceny warrant.
McKee has the tattoos “Bonnie” on his outer right forearm and “Clyde” on his left outer forearm, “Geechie Way” on his inner right forearm and a gun tattoo on his inner left forearm.
The warrant is a result of an incident that that occurred Thursday when McKee walked into Charleston Gems Store on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in Charleston around 4:45 p.m. and asked to look at several diamond rings.
As the clerk showed him a ring, McKee reportedly grabbed it and ran from the store. The ring is valued at $3,495. McKee left the location in a white Pontiac Sunfire driven by a woman later identified as Erin Records, 17. The vehicle was found at her Summerville home, where she was arrested and charged with grand larceny.
McKee is described as about 6 feet tall and weighing between 240 pounds and 280 pounds. His last known address was in Summerville. He may be driving a a silver gray 2004 Dodge Stratus with South Carolina tag ADZ944 or a silver gray 2000 Jeep Cherokee with SC license tag EWL733.
