North Charleston police reopen roads, store and library after bomb threat
A Kmart store and the Otranto Road branch of the Charleston County Libary have been repopened after a bomb threat caused authorities to evacuate the store and nearby buildings earlier today.
Police were checking out a threat of a bomb at the Super Kmart at 8750 Rivers Ave. and had evacuated the store and library, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.
Police also shut down Antler Road and Otranto Road near the store, as well as the store parking lot, Pryor said.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Pryor said all was clear at Super KMart and the roads in the area have been reopened.
A package that had been thought suspicious was found to have been filled with clothing, Pryor said.
Investigators are still trying to identify the person who called in the threat, he said.
Anyone with information about that could help police identify the caller should call North Charleston Police at 554-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
