The Citadel tops Charleston Southern in volleyball
The Citadel (4-18) won a five-set thriller against Charleston Southern in volleyball Tuesday, 16-25, 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 15-12.
Rachael Farrell and Jessica Maxwell had 13 kills each. Mikaela Tracy had 45 assists, while Erin Bucherl had 22 digs.
Kayla Klinger led all players with 14 kills and had 13 digs for CSU (9-13). Kirsten Struksnes had 55 assists.
The Bulldogs cruised to a 25-12, 25-17, 25-17 victory over Savannah State (0-23) in the tri-match. Charleston Southern defeated Savannah State earlier, 25-17, 25-17, 25-9.
Men’s soccer
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sean de Silva scored 27 seconds into the second overtime period to lift the College of Charleston men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over UNC Greensboro.
Troy Peterson also scored for the Cougars (6-7-0, 2-1-0 SoCon). Charleston hosts No. 2 North Carolina on Saturday.
